We’ve been visiting the property a couple of times a year for the past few years. The cottage is like a home from home and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. It’s in a great location with fabulous views of the surrounding mountains and is just a short walk into Keswick town Centre.

Stephen and Di have put a lot of time and love into the cottage and it certainly shows. We wouldn’t stay anywhere else we love our stays at River Cottage.

We have been visiting Keswick for many years and have stayed in numerous cottages. River Cottage is exceptional in its quality and location. Stephen and Di have clearly gone the extra mile in making sure the accommodation has everything one might need. We have already booked again.

Second stay at River Cottage and it was as fabulous as the first. Location can’t be beat! The cottage is clean, quite large for our party of 4 and with well equipped kitchen – we hope to stay a third time!

We are regular visitors to Keswick and River Cottage has become our accommodation of choice. It is spacious, extremely comfortable and beautifully decorated every little detail to make for a perfect stay has been thought of.

Stephen and Di are always very helpful and their welcoming touches really make guests feel at home.

We are lucky enough to be spending our second Christmas at River Cottage this year and I am sure we will be back again in 2026.

One of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in. Very ‘up together’ and well appointed. Lovely terrace to sit out on, large living room and kitchen. 2 good size bedrooms with shower room/ toilet downstairs and large bathroom upstairs. Host Stephen was very helpful and kindly left a birthday gift for me. Property was big enough for us to have a family get together and flowed well. Would not hesitate to return.

We’ve stayed at River Cottage many times over recent years and it never disappoints. A lovely property in a wonderful location, a short 5 minute walk into the centre of Keswick and a great base for exploring the nearby fells.

Cottage has everything you need including off road parking.

We’ll be back again soon I’m sure.

We thoroughly enjoyed our weeks stay in River Cottage. It’s been very thoughtfully equipped and decorated to an extremely high standard and we felt instantly “at home”. Combine this with an easy walk into Keswick centre for shops, pubs, cafes and local walks plus the added bonus of a 5 minute walk the other way to The Pheasant for supper (highly recommend but book in advance it’s very busy) makes this a perfect cottage. The garden is welcoming and I enjoyed my morning coffee from the seating area watching the river and taking in the fantastic views. We even looked at booking to return for the same week in 2026 but sadly it’s already booked up! Stephen and Di were quickly helpful with any questions so we would like to thank them for such a great stay. ☺️

We have stayed in many cottages in the Lake District but River Cottage was by far the best.

A superb location with views of the Fells from every window, the River Greta running just behind the cottage and an easy stroll into Keswick town centre.

The cottage is beautifully decorated with lovely furnishings, bedding and towels and a very well equipped kitchen. A lovely welcome pack awaited us.

Booking direct with Stephen and Di was very straightforward and they kindly messaged us to ask if we had everything we needed.

Keswick is a beautiful town with an abundance of places to eat and with the snow topped hills looked absolutely stunning.

We shall return!

We had a great week in Keswick based at the beautiful, spacious and comfortable River Cottage. It’s well equipped, clean and in great condition. There’s plenty of room everywhere for 4 to spread out or stay together. The large garden backs onto the river so is private and sunny (if it ever comes out!). The location is great – quiet with a driveway but only 10 minutes walk from the centre of Keswick. The owners are lovely too and swapped the feather bedding for us.

Stayed August 24 for 1 week. All communication prior to and during stay very good. Accommodation was as advertised and to the standard expected. We all felt relaxed and at home straight away. Having Alexa was great for music. Lots of space indoors and out. We sat on the terrace a couple of times for a drink watching the river go by. Downstairs shower was great, super powerful. Comfy sofas in the living room. We only used 1 of the 4 TV’s during the week, you can log onto your own Netflix/Amazon prime accounts to watch plus all the usual channels. Hairdryers in both bedrooms. Lovely views front and back. Easy walk into Keswick, 10 minutes. Spar within the petrol station at the end of the road, coop and Booths also close by. Turn right out of the cottage and you get to a car park, cut through there for nice Riverside walk next to Fitz Park and on into town. The Threlkeld walk from Keswick also starts from the top corner of the park, there’s a lovely village hall cafe at the end. You can also walk to Portinscale on a footpath down the side of the Premier Inn, again fab cafe there and pub. Recommend bus to Buttermere as driving is stressful. We didn’t use the car all week, it was a great base. Pheasant inn just down the road is excellent as was Thyme Bistro. Golden Lion nice friendly town pub. I would recommend this cottage to anyone, it’s comfy and has everything you would need. Hope to come back at some point. Thank you Stephen and Di.

Lovely appointed cottage; all the mod cons you need and more; comfortable beds, lovely shower; kitchen has everything you need and delightful patio to sit out and sip a glass or two on a sunny evening, after a long day in the hills or on the water. Just what we needed.

What a wonderful stay in July 2024. My wife and I, along with our two children had a great time. The house is beautifully decorated and has all the space and amenities anyone could need. There’s a lovely large living room with plenty of space and big comfy sofas plus a large screen tv for the evenings. The bathrooms and bedrooms are all well finished too, and the spacious kitchen is flooded with light from the rear gardens. We were blessed with good weather and managed a few hours of sun in the back garden, looking out over the river and the mountains. The location is absolutely perfect too – you can walk in to the Main Street in a matter of moments. Stunning! We have already booked again for next year!

We have been going to River Cottage for the past 5 years the cottage is spacious with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The garden space is beautiful it overlooks the river and has fabulous Mountain View’s. The property has off street parking which is a big bonus for the central location as Keswick town centre is only a 10 minute walk away. It’s a good base to get to other parts of the Lake District whether it be by car or local transport all in all this is the perfect place to stay for whatever holiday you like adventure packed or just relaxing.

Been staying here for quite a few years now and always look forward to our stay. Loved the new planting out front and sitting out at the back.

Beautifully maintained and equipped house in a great location. It is just 2 minutes walk from a garage convenience store and 5-6 from supermarkets and the main Keswick bus stop. A few minutes further for the town centre and a wide selection of restaurants. Our car stayed on the drive most of the week.

The downstairs is huge, so you won’t be getting cabin fever if the weather is bad. And if you have any problems the owners are just minutes away and really friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Lovely, warm, cosy cottage in perfect location for walking into Keswick and the surrounding countryside. Beautifully furnished kitchen and living area. Also, the benefit of extra large fluffy towels and top quality bed linen on very comfortable beds. Perhaps next time (it was cold in February with some snow) we can enjoy the well planned outdoor area at the back of the cottage. We look forward to it.

Excellent location and lovely house

Clean Tidy and everything on hand for a great stay. Perfectly Positioned near Keswick Town Centre, but very quiet as well. Didn’t get the chance to try out the new Riverside Decking Area due to the Rainy weather, but will hope to be back again one day soon. AWESOME PLACE

We rent many holiday properties and this rates as one of the best. It was spotless on arrival and lovely and warm and welcoming on what was a chilly June day. It is well equipped especially in the kitchen which suited us as we love to cook. There is a nice little set of outdoor furniture to enjoy the garden which backs onto the river, although you have to stand to see it over the protective wall. We had a few sunny days to enjoy this . The bedrooms were clean and comfortable and both had TVs which our son who was with us to recover from surgery appreciated.

Lovely house of a very high standard in a convenient spot in terms of walking into Keswick town and down to Derwent Lake. A very enjoyable stay!

River Cottage was in the perfect location to explore the Lakes and a few minutes walk into town to enjoy Keswick. The Cottage was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. We were lucky with the weather (lovely temperature throughout the week & after the heatwave in the south we welcomed rain on the Monday). We spent 6 of our 7 evenings in the garden. A lovely week and we have returned home relaxed and recharged. Would only suggest a guest book to write in places to visit and eat etc. We enjoyed a meal & numerous coffees at the Square Orange.

Ideal location, easy walking into the centre of Keswick, with good parking spaces. Ample storage space for bicycles. Very clean and well presented. Very well equipped and comfortable. We would like to return.

The property was exceptionally well equipped with everything you needed to ensure a pleasurable stay. Everything was very modern and the property was extremely spacious and comfortable. It was only a few minutes walk to Keswick town centre which was so convenient. Would definitely recommend this property for anyone looking for a relaxing break away. Views from the windows of the mountains in the distance were fabulous. Thank you.
